Yet another fatal auto accident happened on I-10 recently

Interstate 10 stretches through several states, including the panhandle of Florida. This interstate is the site numerous crashes each year in every state through which it runs. Sadly, yet another fatal auto accident occurred on the roadway recently here in the state.

The accident occurred between Highways 81 and 331 in the eastbound lanes of the interstate. Preliminary reports reveal that the first vehicle was in the left eastbound lane when it veered into the median. The driver attempted to get the vehicle back on the roadway. The vehicle then slammed into a second vehicle. First reports indicated that three vehicles were involved, but this report turned out to be erroneous.

When emergency personnel arrived at the scene, they discovered two vehicles that were on fire. A child in one vehicle was taken from the scene by helicopter with serious injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening. A 36-year-old man also suffered serious injuries, and the driver of the first vehicle suffered fatal injuries. The current conditions of the survivors were not known at the time of this writing. Numerous emergency agencies responded to the scene, including the Florida Highway Patrol, and at one time, both the eastbound and westbound lanes of the interstate were closed.

Even though the deceased driver believed responsible for the accident obviously cannot be charged with a crime in connection with the auto accident, that does not mean that the survivors and/or their families cannot seek restitution for the damages sustained as a result. Personal injury claims could be filed against the deceased driver's estate. If the evidence documents that the injuries suffered were the result of that driver's negligent actions, damages could be awarded to the victims.
