3 teens injured in car accident while on the way to a party

Police in Florida are in the process of investigating a single-vehicle crash that left three teenagers injured. The car accident occurred in the Pembroke Pines area on Sunday, Oct. 29. According to the driver's parent, the teens were on their way to a party when the crash occurred.

It was a stormy night when an 18-year-old West Broward High School student told his mother he was going to a party. He took his car, loaded it with two of his friends -- both males ages 16 and 18 -- and went on his way. The roads were wet, and the young driver is said to have lost control of his car on South Dykes Road. The vehicle crossed over the median and came to a stop after hitting a tree.

The driver is said to be in critical condition. According to his aunt, doctors are not sure how he even survived the incident. The two passengers in the automobile are believed to have suffered serious injuries. The details of each of the boys' injuries have not been released to the public.

According to the latest report, police think that speed, weather or possibly alcohol contributed to the car accident. Toxicology reports have not been released in this case. If the driver is believed to have been negligent in his actions, his two passengers may pursue legal actions against him or the vehicle's owner -- if different -- in a Florida civil court, in order to seek compensation for their losses. While filing personal injury claims against a friend or his parents may not be an ideal situation, it may be the only way to get maximum relief for any damages sustained by the teens and their families.
