Car accident leads to 1 death, 1 injury in Florida

A former pastor in Florida recently lost his life in a tragic motor vehicle collision. In addition, another individual suffered injuries in the wreck. According to authorities, it appears that the wreck was a wrong-way car accident.

The crash took place at about 3 a.m. on Interstate 4 Eastbound. Two automobiles were involved. Authorities reported that, apparently, one of the drivers was going the wrong way, thus causing the head-on collision.

The former pastor, 52, ended up dying at the accident scene. Meanwhile, emergency responders took the other motorist to the hospital with injuries deemed to be life threatening. Police continued to investigate the cause of the wreck.

If the injured driver is found to have caused the reported wrong-way accident due to negligent driving, the surviving loved ones of the deceased former pastor may choose to file a wrongful death claim against this driver, seeking the reimbursement of financial damages. Meanwhile, if the former pastor is found to have caused the accident due to careless driving, the injured driver might decide to file a personal injury claim against the former pastor's estate. Anyone else with an ownership interest in the vehicle that the former pastor was driving at the time of the accident may also be named in the lawsuit.

A preponderance of the evidence is necessary to establish liability before the civil court hearing a car accident case in Florida. A case that is fought successfully may result in a monetary award that might help with addressing medical expenses or funeral costs associated with the accident. Monetary damages might also help with addressing pain and suffering or emotional distress caused by the car crash.
